2026 Mayor's Occoquan Race Series

The Mayor's Occoquan Race Series consists of three races on or near the Occoquan River, organized by Occoquan Mayor, Earnie Porta.* The first, the Occoquan Reservoir Race, will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Fountainhead Regional Park; the second, the Occoquan/Belmont Bay Race, will take place on Saturday, June 20, at Mason Neck State Park; the third, the Occoquan River Paddle Challenge, will take place on Saturday, July 11 at Occoquan Regional Park. Registration for all three races will be on PaddleGuru. There is no additional fee to participate in the Mayor's Occoquan Race Series beyond the individual race fees on PaddleGuru.

Categories will include Male and Female for SUP Open, SUP Masters (40-59), SUP Golden Masters (60+), Surfski, Kayak under 15' (non-Surfski), and OC-1. In addition to 5K and 10K distance races, there will also be an optional short sprint competition and a short technical course competition open to SUP (no age brackets). While there will be awards for every race and category, at the conclusion of the three races on the three different dates, overall champions for the series will be announced and receive additional awards and cash prizes.

Points for the series will be assigned in accordance with the points chart, which can be accessed by clicking here. To encourage participants to try out the optional short sprint and short technical course competitions (since we do not have them very much in our area), 1st-3rd places will receive higher points, but all other participants will receive 5 points.
